The teacher of the class, Dr. Huijie Miao, who graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, said this course was especially designed for kids from age 5 to 7. The curriculum was written according to the memory pattern of young kids. It uses pictures, music, children's songs, tongue twisters to let students memorize at least 1000 charaters in an acdemic year. At the show, students could read a long Chinese story without any picture or other forms of help, which proves the success of this teaching method.
The committee of the shows was composed of the Principal Yanyu Zhou and four other Chinese education specialists. They show the scores right after each performance. The Grade 2 students performed the choir "You and Me," which was the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Other choir performances included "Where is the Spring," and "Wa Ha Ha."
