For almost a century, the Kwong Kow Chinese School has provided after-school classes for successive generations of youth and children seeking heritage education. 20,000 children of Chinese immigrants in Boston, Greater Boston, and Eastern Massachusetts region have been cultivated at KKCS. Most KKCS students enter famous high schools and colleges. Among our alumni, there are outstanding people working all over the world in all areas, such as community leaders, specialists, educators, and entrepreneurs.
Currently, KKCS has over 500 students at age 5 -17 from K – 12, who seek for homework help, Chinese language and culture education, English and Math tutoring, standardized test tutoring in both English and Chinese (e.g. MCAS, SAT I & II, Chinese SAT II and AP, YCT etc.), and Chinese music and Western music. The majority of our students come from heritage families. However, since China is playing a powerful role in the international affairs, Chinese is more and more popular in this country. Therefore, the demography of students in KKCS today is not limited to heritage Chinese students. Rather, our students are more diverse with different family background from Hispanic, African American, White, Vietnamese, Philippians, Singaporean, etc.. In particular, since Fall, 2009, we initiated an innovative class for non-Chinese speaking students, which allowed parents to take the Chinese class with their child together for free. The result has been reported positively. Please click here for the articles from the teacher and some of the parents.
With a big aspiration, KKCS made its commitment to the community that taking advantages of new advanced modern facility, we will provide first class Chinese language and cultural courses to our students.
